About the App Sherpa is a hands-free, personal audio guide for skiing Copper Mountain. Using GPS tracking, the app gives skiers and boarders real-time, insider intel on the resort. Through Sherpa, riders can access summaries of their daily and seasonal activity, easter egg prizes won by riding through geo-tagged spots, and audibles of insider intel into the mountain left by friends, celebrities, or staff.
In its third season (2015-2016), Sherpa expanded its feature set to include:
Heat maps and graphs to visually show users where they spent their time on the mountain and how much of the resort’s terrain they’ve covered
Personalized recommendations for terrain to try, based upon a user’s behaviors and skill level
Stronger web and email presence for users to access information outside of the app
Sherpa 3.0 carried through the established look-and-feel of the previous two seasons for the app. With users on-the-move and in blinding sunlight outdoors while using the app, the design strategy prioritizes clarity of information design through:
Type hierarchy through weight and color (of one typeface)
A simple, graded color palette
UX/UI design for addition to current screens and new features
